24/7 Smart Terminals
ID Terminal

Together with Kern, the city of Ludwigsburg has introduced the first ID card collection terminal in Germany. The community is the first city in Germany to put a Kern ID-card/passport collection terminal into operation.

Kern Ausweisterminal

This makes it a pioneer in modernising the Citizen Service Office. In future, citizens will be able to collect their identity cards or passports 24/7, regardless of the opening hours of the Citizens' Office.

This solution saves waiting time and reduces the demand on the Citizens' Office. The aim is to make everything as easy as possible for the applicant, including the use of technical innovations.

Released from rigid opening hours, collection of identity documents in Ludwigsburg is now possible at any time, while conforming to the highest security standards. When making an application at the Citizens' Office, the citizen decides to collect his or her ID document at the issuing terminal. In addition, contact data such as their mobile phone number or e-mail address are recorded in a web-based system. The system automatically generates a booking number and triggers an e-mail or SMS to the applicant. Identification upon collection of the identity card is carried out on the one hand by a code sent to the applicant, and on the other hand by reading the applicant's fingerprint at the terminal.

  • Behind the 24/7 Smart Terminals is a logistics concept that resembles an intelligent parcel depot.
  • The system guarantees secure and fully digitized transfer of goods or documents.
  • The 24/7 Smart Terminals are available in several versions and can be installed both outdoors and indoors, in places with high footfall such as train stations and subway stations, as well as in companies or private residences.
